Project WOOB 02
Hm… I wonder if this is a secret. LOL. Well, anyway, I am the ‘secret’ judge for the upcoming Project WOOB 02 at PLAMO.
Looking around at some of the questions and getting a feel of how everyone feels about it, I can’t help but have a mixed feeling. On the positive side, I see enthusiastic people. I see people with the eagerness to participate and learn something. This is really something great and is the whole idea behind WOOB from the very beginning, to learn the basics of modelling well.
On the other side, I see the same old fallacy that is utterly disappointing. Is it so hard to read and understand the rules? Of course, some questions are very valid and worthy. But when someone asked a question that is explicitly forbidden in the rules, I just feel very baffled.
Perhaps the greatest sense of a somewhat preempted disappointment is that no one seems to have taken the liberty to go through the previous event‘s entry for a better feel of the event. The rules are, if anything, much clearer than the previous.
I seriously urged all interested participants to see what really ticked and why there was a worthy winner previously, before jumping into the bandwagon. Then perhaps that wasn’t such a waste of time and effort.
