Macross VF-1D

My latest build in support of WOOB06.

Before I go on, maybe just a little update. My priorities in life has taken a change with the birth of my son, Harold. I still hope to find time to do models but that will have to take a back seat for now. Not so much that I’ve lost interest in making models but there are other more time critical things to take care of. Modeling as always should and will be a pastime best done with the mood and time to spare. :)

Enjoy!

BAC TSR-2

It’s been a while again. This was my entry to the Airfix Cup 2010. It got me a commendation prize. But more importantly, it was a build that I enjoyed. I think it’s a fitting tribute to a British Aerospace legend.

Macross Zero VF-0D

Once again, it’s been a while since I posted any finished work. Priorities changes, and I guess that is part of life.

This was meant to be a WOOB4 entry. But alas, I couldn’t finish in time. This is the 2nd Macross plane from Hasegawa that I’ve completed. It was very much as enjoyable as the first. Can’t wait to do the next one. Enjoy! :)

Air ~Plamo Tsukurou Custom~

Sorry it’s been a while since I updated this site. I’m still trying to squeeze time into modeling. But preparation for my wedding this coming November end and my new place renovation has made it sort of difficult.

Anyway, this piece is something that I’ve not attempted for quite a while.

Mikoyan MiG-29 Fulcrum

1/72 Scale
Tamiya/Italeri

When I bought this kit from M Workshop, Bernard told me when I was paying for it that this kit has some serious fit issues. Not to sound cliche, but that sure made me look forward to building this. I love the challenge of building ‘bad’ kits like this. So I replied, “I like bad fitting kits”.

Famous. Last. Words.

Yellow Submarine

This was my entry to the Macross Revelation GB at M Workshop. I had to rush this entry and finish in a week but it was still a fun build.

Sukhoi Su-34 Fullback

1/72 Scale
Tamiya/Italeri

One of the images Russian jets conjures is that they are often rugged and dirty. And strangely, that is not far from the truth. Its strange because an aircraft is a precision made piece of equipment and is usually expected to be well taken care of. But Russian jets seems especially hardened against such abuse.

Given such a premise, I had the perfect opportunity to unleash some serious weathering on this kit. She’s dirty and she loves it. :D

Type J9 Griffon

Check in-progress here.

1/35 Scale
Bandai

Dubbed “The black robot” in the Patlabor TV series, it was the highlight of the anime. Its lack of markings was characteristic of this robot as it was a secret experimental machine by Schaft Enterprise Japan. During the times it engaged the “Special Vehicle 2″ crew, its advanced performance literally left them in awe, as it took to the skies…

A-4E/F Skyhawk “Topgun”

1/72 Scale Fujimi
Heinemann’s Hotrods

This kit was done as my entry to Plamo’s Group Build. I wanted it to be a fun and short project. But I did also want to try out something new/different. The aggressor scheme was just the very thing that kicked off this build.

Many many thanks to G-man for donating his spare pilot that now permanently flies my Skyhawk. :)

F-16D IAF Brakeet

1/48 Scale
Hasegawa

I don’t claim to be a F-16 expert but I believe at the time of writing this, the F-16D Block 50 with the electronic spine is only used by IAF (Israeli Air Force) and the RSAF (Republic of Singapore Air Force) (Yeah!). I’m proud to be making this model knowing that my country’s (Singapore) airforce owns one but I choose to make the IAF version because it comes in the kit and the desert camouflage scheme is just so good looking!

M1A1HA Diorama, Desert Storm 1991

1/35 Scale
Trumpeter

I have always like the sleek look of the M1. With the introduction of the HA (heavy armour) version, the look gets even more appealing due to the addition weight of depleted uranium armour that brings down the front suspension.

The picture above is a collage of my model over a scene of the around my home from my window view!

A-6E Intruder

1/72 Scale
Italeri-Tamiya rebox

The A-6E was an all-weather, two seat, subsonic, carrier-based attack aircraft. It was equipped with a microminiaturized digital computer, a solid state weapons release system, and a single, integrated track and search radar. The target recognition/attack multi-sensor (TRAM) version of the A-6E was introduced to the fleet in 1979. It was equipped with a chin turret containing a forward-looking infra-red (FLIR) system and a laser designator and receiver.

The 19 December 1996 launch of an A-6E Intruder from the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CVN 65) marked the last Intruder squadron to fly from the deck of an aircraft carrier. The Intruder Attack Squadron 75 of Carrier Air Wing 7, known as the Sunday Punchers, was decommissioned in early 1997.

Sentou Yousei Yukikaze

Mave Yukikaze
Bandai EX 1/00

Yukikaze (??). Literal translation of the word means blizzard or snow-wind. To me it gives a sense of tranquil and yet, like it’s maker in the anime said, it’s a monster, a savage beast.

I’ve fallen in love with the anime, Sentou Yousei Yukikaze, ever since it first came out. For me, it’s a perfect combination of form and machinery (much like how I love GITS too). The aircrafts are unconventional and beautifully designed. The Mave is actually a combination of the robotic Rafe and the original Super Slyph Yukikaze. You have to see the series to believe how awesome it really is.

SD Vis-À-vis

China bootleg 1/12
Vignette

I first came across the idea to this kit before I even own this kit. Yeah, so I copied the idea. From this excellent vignette by Matt Wellhouser. It’s simply stunning. So finally I came across a couple of these interesting Super Deformed (SD) figures in a local store having a sale. I grabbed them under encouragement from my gf. But actually I had already wanted to get them so that I can put them together just like Mr. Wellhouser did!

Actually I really liked the idea because it’s ironic in a really humourous way. No that war is anything funny but the proximity of the 2 person who are enemies and highlights a very subtle point of how close people actually are when they wage wars and fight each other.

Tau Firewarrior

Games Workshop
Made for a friend. ^_^

Thanks to a friend, I was introduced to the world of game figure painting. I think people who love this hobby, loves the story behind it all as much as the game itself. The story of Tau came about as a race who was once fighting among themselves as they belong to several different caste, each with their own strength. But once united, they were a force to be reckon with as forged their way through the Warhammer 40K universe.

Nissan Fairlady 350Z

Tamiya 1/24
Winner, Automobile Category, Singapore Tamiya Competition 2006

Finally got to build myself a 350Z. It’s one of the most captivating of modern street cars that I liked. I don’t really know why, maybe it’s because of it’s specs that give cars like Porsche a run for it’s money. Maybe it’s the clean lines of the design. Smooth and flowing, like a piece of artwork.

That’s why I decided to build this kit even after swearing after my Xanavi kit that I won’t be building any cars soon. :P

Xanavi Nismo Skyline GTR

Tamiya 1/24
Entry, Singapore Tamiya Competition 2006

How shall I describe a stunning car (model)?

It’s like a beautiful woman. So much so that it seduces you with every curve and no matter which angle you look at her, she sets your heart racing. Her body (shell) tempts you to touch it, feeling the smooth curve of the perfectly sculpted body…

But like a beautiful woman, she is temperamental, demanding that you treat her like a princess. Perfect is the only way to treat her. No mistakes to be made here, for if any, her beauty leaves you before you next blinks your eyes.

So are you up to it?
