Before I go on, maybe just a little update. My priorities in life has taken a change with the birth of my son, Harold. I still hope to find time to do models but that will have to take a back seat for now. Not so much that I’ve lost interest in making models but there are other more time critical things to take care of. Modeling as always should and will be a pastime best done with the mood and time to spare.

A-10 ROX!!

This was meant to be a WOOB4 entry. But alas, I couldn’t finish in time. This is the 2nd Macross plane from Hasegawa that I’ve completed. It was very much as enjoyable as the first. Can’t wait to do the next one. Enjoy!

It’s been a while again. I’m finally settling well at my new place and getting used to my new life. Didn’t really get a chance to resume full modeling after the wedding due to the holiday seasons and increased workload. Anyway, I finally have some new WIP to post.

Ah the R35, dreams of many a car enthusiasts like myself. Since I probably won’t get to own the real one (anytime soon), the next best thing would be to build the model. I’m building the FUJIMI kit because it has really exaggerated wheels and it’s cheaper than Tamiya’s offering. The idea is to build a mean street car that looks totally road legal but fully tricked out. Of course, this will lend very nicely to PLAMO’s Zhng Your Car GB.

To start off, I am going to mod the body. Based loosely on SEBON’s body kit.

First I build the air inlet piece.

The red highlighted version is there to help support the curved styrene and will be removed later.

Note that at this point, the body is yet unharmed. In case, I decided to chicken out.

Opening up the body for the air inlet piece. As with Gundam modding, drill holes around the perimeter of the opening and slowly cut away the piece. This is a better way to control openings like this.

After the opening has been cut to shape (larger than the inlet piece), insert the inlet and glue in place after positioning. Not visible from this shot but the rear is heavily reinforced with scrap styrene to make sure the new piece stays in place.

Sand down the body work.

Prime and we’re done.

I still have to carefully inspect and fill up minor air pockets but this is basically it. Rinse and repeat for the other side.

Anyway, this piece is something that I’ve not attempted for quite a while.

I got hooked on the idea/inspiration to build a figure when I saw the Plamo Tsukurou series on YouTube. For those who are not familiar, this a a series that features different genre of modeling. It is always very interesting. But this custom figure series really opened my eyes. I’ve sculpted figures before and know how difficult that is. The amount of details to take care of is quite unimaginable to most people. Anyway, if you are interested. Here is the link to the first of the series.

I like the figure because it’s something that modelers can relate to. The weaponised AirBrush is a really interesting concept. In case you are wondering, the “robot” is the compressor. Quite the innovation you will expect from the Japanese.

Finally finished this. Though there are dull moments during this build, this revived my interest in Gundam a little. The 00 series design is really quite nice and unique. Thanks to all those who gave me encouragement through this build. Friends at PLAMO, my wife. Thank you.

A while ago, I made this logo after watched Appleseed: Ex Machina.

If you noticed, the fonts are exactly what was used for the movie. I traced it using software and modified the words to try to form “Mechaworks”. But alas, I didn’t notice that there wasn’t any suitable character for ‘k’. In a stroke of creativity, I decided to spell it as “Mechaworxs”. This worked out really well and makes the word spells phonetically similar and visually pleasing.

But today, I made a new one. Made purely in PS. I like it, it reflects my mood perfectly.
